Duty Calls: White Pizza

So since the hubs said the White Pizza recipe would be posted on my blog, I need to get my rear in gear and get it posted!! This pizza is so easy to make and much healthier than any delivery or frozen pizza out there.

** Side Note: I am notorious for not measuring things and throwing stuff together to make a recipe, so forgive the lack of precise measurements

Ingredients:
Whole Wheat pizza dough
Olive Oil
1 Onion (thinly sliced)
Big Bunch of Baby Spinach
Minced Garlic
Reduced Fat Ricotta Cheese
Smoked Mozzarella Cheese

Directions:
Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees. Caramelize onion in a little EVOO with salt & pepper. Using the same sautee pan, wilt spinach with a little minced garlic and salt & pepper. Roll out dough to form pizza crust and lightly brush with Olive Oil. Sprinkle minced garlic all over crust. Thinly spread ricotta cheese over crust (I used 2 small spoonfuls). Top with caramelized onions and spinach. Lightly grate smoked mozzarella over pizza. Pop into the oven and bake on pizza stone for 18 minutes.

This bad boy was simply amazing!! I have used a variety of veggies for toppings but always stick to the same base, as I am not the biggest fan of tomato sauce. I have also brushed aged balsamic vinegar on the crust, which is also a truly amazing addition to the pizza.

Feel free to really experiment in the kitchen with whatever veggies and/or herbs you may have on hand or your personal favorites. I would love to hear your pizza creations!!

  1. I have been doing spinach (uncooked), onions (again raw), feta, and black olives. I use red sauce and mozzerella on the bottom before topping with those ingrediants.

  2. Erica-If I use/eat red sauce then I like full-blown raw veggie type pizza (onions, green peppers, black olives, & mushrooms). Never thought of using feta but will def have to give that a try sometime!!
